What are we looking for?
Treadwear and any damage to your rim or tire. Some damage is cosmetic, and some can be a serious safety issue. The goal is to make sure you are informed about the wear life of your tires as well as any damage/the risk that damage might pose!

Both tread depth and damage are important to know for the wear life of your tires​

Punctures

Punctures cause air leakage. Most can be fixed with the correct material but some require tire replacement​

Sidewall damage

Burst chords
-
Both sidewall damage and burst chords usually result from hard impacts with potholes or curbs. They compromise tire integrity, almost always require replacement, and can lead to catastrophic failure​

Dry rot
Inspected items on rims:

Curb rash​

Damaged coating (paint, powder coat, etc.)

Both rash and coating damage are cosmetic. It isn't usually a safety concern, but it looks bad​​

Cracks

Impact damage (bending)

Cracks and bending usually result from impacts with potholes. Some can be repaired, but most require replacement. They can result in air leakage, wheel vibrations, and, eventually, failure​
